M1 launches next-generation hosted UC service

M1 Limited has launched its Hosted Unified Communications (UC) solution for modern businesses, boosting productivity and enhancing availability.

Increasingly, business is being conducted through mobile calls, instant messaging and e-mail, on a smartphone. Despite this, many businesses continue to pay for underused legacy communications tools such as fixed phone lines. While on-premise UC solutions exist, take-up has been limited to larger enterprises due to high capital investment requirements and management complexity.

As a result, many employees remain desk-bound or resort to third party consumer tools. For S$10.70 per user per month, M1’s 100% software solution will deliver the right tools - instant messaging, digital voice, conferencing, network presence detection, web collaboration, made available through a user-friendly desktop and mobile client - to enable mobile workers to access and share information effectively with their colleagues, business partners and customers, without relying on unsecured third party tools.

In addition, M1’s pay-as-you-use subscription hosted model frees the business from IT or telecommunications infrastructure investments as well as management costs, and enables them to scale seamlessly as their business grows. This allows all kinds of businesses, from start-ups that do not wish to wire up their offices for fixed line phones, businesses with legacy telephony-only solutions, and larger corporates that wish to consolidate their existing proprietary communications solutions, to enjoy the benefits of M1’s enterprise-grade solution.

“Today, business is conducted over smartphones, instant messages and e-mail, not fixed phone lines, fax machines, and voice mails. M1 Hosted UC replaces these obsolete communications tools with more effective modern tools, and ensuring they are easy for their mobile workers to pick up, as well as for the business to manage, thus allowing the business to focus its resources on the things that matter,” said  Willis Sim, Chief Product Development & Corporate Solutions Officer, M1.

“M1’s Hosted UC has given my staff the ability to work anywhere and still remain contactable by customers and colleagues. In addition, through the Hosted UC solution, my staff working overseas can even make calls to their Singapore colleagues practically free of charge with the M1 Data Passport service, giving us even more cost-savings,” added Christopher Ong, Finance and Administration Director, Lubritrade Trading, a M1 Hosted UC trial user.
