IBM, Box to provide enterprises with option to store data regionally in Europe and Asia

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has revealed that it has launched it own investigation on why the Australian Taxation Office’s system crashed last week.

“In addition to the ATO’s independent review, HPE has initiated its own root cause analysis investigation to determine why storage hardware went offline, preceding a series of events that led to the broader system outage experienced by the ATO,” said a statement issued by HPE.

The company says that a team of HPE engineers continue to work closely with the ATO to help restore all systems to functionality as soon as possible.

“HPE is completely committed to helping to resolve the system issues which have impacted the ATO’s online services, portals and website,” the statement said “We refrain from speculation on possible causes while the investigation is underway and at this time, HPE does not believe that other customers are at risk.”

In a separate statement, the ATO said that all business critical systems are live and performance is returning to normal as systems stabilise. The agency said that the Australian Business Register (ABR) is now available but with reduced functionality. ATO expects full service to be restored in coming days, with Australian Business Number applications to be processed as soon as possible.
