Energy Market Company (EMC) has selected Orange Business Services to provide an integrated, scalable application solution for the implementation of new initiatives that were introduced in Singapore’s wholesale electricity market.
The deployment of Orange’s Business Process Management solution enhances the operational efficiencies of EMC’s trading systems and provides greater business agility.
EMC operates the wholesale market of the National Electricity Market of Singapore (NEMS), Singapore’s liberalized electricity market. All of Singapore’s electricity is bought and sold through EMC, which provides a transparent and competitive trading platform.
In 2014, EMC embarked on a series of enhancements to the NEMS systems – the most extensive enhancements since the NEMS started in 2003 – that were necessary to implement new initiatives in the wholesale electricity market. The new initiatives include the Demand Response and Automatic Financial Penalty Schemes, as well as the Modelling of Minimum Stable Load.
Orange put in place a customized Business Process Management solution which provided EMC with Oracle Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) to support increasing trading demands and compliance with new Market Rules resulting from the new initiatives. New applications built to support the enhancements were seamlessly integrated with the existing NEMS systems, to ensure that day-to-day operations will not be disrupted.
