Russia uses Huawei technology to safeguard federal finances

As a consumption power, Russia has a huge number of bank card users. Because of scattered homegrown payment systems, its bank card payment services had been monopolized by companies from other countries. In terms of national trade security and people’s livelihood, Russia urgently needed to build a national payment system.

The Central Bank of Russia started to build the National System of Payment Cards (NSPC) in 2014. During NSPC buildup, Huawei worked as the only solution provider to build a cornerstone of the NSPC. Thanks to its accrued expertise and experience in serving China UnionPay and other international financial institutions, Huawei performed custom planning with local partners and provided the customer with a lineup of solutions, including the active-active data center, high-performance computing platform, and cloud network. Huawei’s solutions deeply converge service systems to build a robust, agile, and future-ready national payment system.

On April 1, 2015, the Central Bank of Russia announced the rollout of the NSPC. Three months after the rollout, the system was able to handle a daily average of 10 million transactions with high reliability. This signifies that Russia has built its own national payment system, which will definitely boost economic growth.

Digital transformation has become a mega-trend in industries, presenting an increasing number of opportunities and challenges. The cornerstone of the transformation is technical innovations and upgrades.
