SAP launches a wave of IoT services and offerings

SAP has launched a new wave of Internet of Things (IoT) services and offerings to help customers thrive in the digital era.

The recently announced SAP Leonardo digital innovation system has been enhanced to include new accelerators for industries and the Internet of Things (IoT), extended tools for SAP Build and new Cloud Foundry packages for SAP Cloud Platform for partners.

The new IoT solutions include SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge, SAP Global Track and Trace, SAP Leonardo IoT Edge, SAP Digital Manufacturing Insights, SAP Asset Manager – solutions that enhance digital logistics by leveraging on SAP Leonardo, IoT and Industry 4.0  for enhanced visibility, insight and asset management.

SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge is a live operations center that converges, correlates and contextualizes IoT sensor data with business processes and both structured and unstructured data. SAP Global Track and Trace provides modeling of tracked business processes, is designed to share data among the partners in the supply network, and is built on a Big Data architecture for high volume and throughput.

Using the container infrastructure of SAP Cloud Platform IoT services, SAP Leonardo IoT Edge is intended to seamlessly work with other line-of-business solutions such as SAP Digital Manufacturing Insights. Providing cloud-based, multitier analytics for full visibility into manufacturing on multiple levels, SAP Digital Manufacturing Insights is seamlessly and securely connected to the shop floor. This provides high-fidelity information overlaid with business data to enable effective decision making. Together, digital manufacturing and IoT solutions from SAP enable cohesive management of operations and effective Industry 4.0 strategies.

SAP Leonardo industry accelerator packages allow a reduced time to value from the implementation of new technologies that solve the complex task of digital transformation, using a step-by-step approach to enable rapid return on investment.

Meanwhile, new Cloud Foundry packages for SAP Cloud Platform enable partners to develop next-generation apps that leverage SAP Leonardo capabilities, including machine learning, IoT and Big Data. The new SAP Cloud Platform SDK packages allow developers to apply existing skill sets to rapidly develop new applications with their preferred language and tools, ultimately resulting in new innovative apps, lower development costs and accelerated time to market.
