Singapore and Malaysia both saw a drastic rise in the demand for IT & Tech talent between March 2018 and 2019, according to the latest Monster Employment Index.
The Monster Employment Index (MEI) is a monthly gauge of online hiring activity across Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, tracked by Monster.com. It comprises data for overall hiring activity in each country, as well as specific data in the banking and finance sector.
The IT industry in Singapore experienced a whopping 40% year-on-year growth in demand this March, nearly double when compared to February’s 22% growth number.
Malaysia’s growth was one notch ahead with an incredible 60% year-on-year rise for the month of March, far more than the growth numbers for January and February, which were 23% and 25% year-on-year, respectively.
In contrast, the Philippines experienced a modest 13% year-on-year growth in the IT industry hiring this March. This is higher than February’s 10% growth, but not as significant as Singapore and Malaysia’s numbers.
