IO boosts connectivity with Superloop's network

IO, a provider of data centre services, has joined forces with Superloop to create a dark fiber metropolitan area network in Singapore. As a result, customers of IO will benefit from better, more reliable, diverse connectivity to their other global data centres and business locations.

Darren Webb, Managing Director, Singapore and Southeast Asia said, “Being part of Superloop’s network is an exciting development for IO. The option to connect key sites together with high availability and secure, private connections are key considerations for our clients. As a result of this collaboration, we look to deliver improved services and greater value to our customers both locally and regionally.”

Superloop, Asia’s newest telecommunications provider, designs, constructs and operates its own underground fibre-optic cable network throughout the Asia Pacific region. An independent provider of connectivity services, Superloop offers dark fibre, fibre-optic services that provide secure and private connection in a network built in a ring allowing customers to connect to and between the buildings on the same dark fibre network.

This agreement enhances IO’s existing portfolio of network providers, providing customers with higher service availability and speed. It also offers a greater level of choice to IO’s service providers, allowing seamless connections to IO’s data centres across the world, as well as enabling faster customer deployment in Singapore. 

Bevan Slattery, Superloop CEO said, "We are very excited to be working with IO to bring their world class data centre onto the Superloop fibre network in Singapore. The route has been designed to provide the most direct and protected (diverse) path possible for IO and their customers."

Currently, Superloop has built approximately 92km of a network locally and will complete another 110km of the primary Eastern path this year. The secondary Western path, built to provide redundancy is slated for completion at the end of 2016. IO expects to be fully operational within this network by the 1st of September 2016.
