Schneider Electric’s Smart-UPS On-line, a family of next generation On-Line uninterruptible power supply (UPS) products, is now available in Singapore.

The company says the Smart-UPS On-line are the only units in the market with a built-in user-friendly LCD display that indicates the exact month and year that the UPS will require a battery replacement. In addition, the model constantly monitors the battery’s environment including the temperature fluctuations and adjusts predictions accordingly.

In today’s increasingly connected world, disruption or loss of power to critical equipment translates into high costs and potential reputational damage for businesses. To this end, organisations that use UPS to protect mission critical equipment traditionally keep replacement batteries on-site for seamless transitions when batteries reach the end of their lifecycle. However, for large organisations that deploy hundreds of UPS, this is not only space-intensive, but complicated.

“With the Smart-UPS On-line models, businesses can eliminate risk, as the UPS models remove the uncertainty associated with battery life expectancy. In addition, by eliminating the need to store and maintain a stock of replacement batteries for their UPSes, the Smart-UPS On-line models save businesses money, space and time,” said Michael Kurniawan, Vice President, Schneider Electric Singapore, IT Business. “Our next generation Smart-UPS On-Line models provide customers with an uninterruptible power supply that can handle more power in less space, achieve excellent power quality and efficiency, and has a flexible design that is easy to install, operate and service in almost any environment.”

With rising cost of energy, IT and facility professionals are demanding better energy efficiency. The Smart-UPS On-Line models are based on a unique design that dramatically increases efficiency, and allows greater load to be supported from a small footprint.

The SRT 2.2 – 5kVA UPS units have a power factor of 0.9, while the SRT 6 – 10kVA units feature unity power factor capability which helps to reduce complexity when specifying power protection, and provides more real power for the active power factor corrected switched-mode power supplies typically found in IT servers and network equipment.

All models also allow users to monitor UPS power usage and efficiency on the LCD display for easy energy tracking, and are operable in a high efficiency “green” mode that can reach 97 percent efficiency without sacrificing any protection, allowing businesses to achieve real savings on utility costs when compared to most other UPS units on the market.

The full range of the new Smart-UPS On-Line models is ideal for a range of applications, from network and server rooms to branch offices and secure power uses, and will be available in Singapore from June 2016. Targeted price of the models ranges from S$2,400 to S$8,675.
